The Fairness for Prisoners' Families program has helped the families and friends of Georgia prisoners become more effective advocates for their imprisoned loved ones, to discover their political power with state elected officials and to develop themselves as social justice activists. One of the greatest benefits of our program is that people with imprisoned loved ones can meet others who are facing the same challenges, and see that they are not alone.
At this time, Fairness exists primarily online as a discussion list to help facilitate communication between people who have loved ones incarcerated in Georgia. We invite families and friends of people incarcerated in Georgia to join this list and help create online community with other family members, exchange suggestions about working with the Department of Corrections, and educate us on the realities of Georgia's criminal justice system. You can view the website for the list at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fairness2families/If you are interested in joining this list, send an email to fairness2families-subscribe@yahoogroups.com . We are restricting membership to those who have a loved one incarcerated in Georgia. At some point we may expand to include supportive members of the community and coalition partners, but for now we are starting small and wanting to create a safe space for those involved. We ask that every new subscriber introduce him/herself upon subscribing. We reserve the right to remove anyone who does not introduce him/herself or goes against
Fairness' principles. We also have an Advocacy Handbook: A Guide for those who have a loved one in a Georgia prison that we hope will be helpful to you.

The Southern Center for Human Rights is the parent organization of Fairness for Prisoners' Families. The Center receives many calls from the family and friends of those in prison about the difficulties they experience when visiting their loved ones and trying to communicate with the Georgia Department of Correction. In response to their experiences, the Center developed Fairness for Prisoners’ Families. You can visit the Center's website at www.schr.org.
